Tom Cruise

 Thomas Cruise Mapother IV, born on July 3 1962, is an American actor. One of the world's highest-paid actors, he has received numerous awards such as an Honorary Palme d'Or and three Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for three Academy Awards. His films have earned more than $4 billion in North America and over $11.1 billion worldwide,making him one of the highest-grossing box-office actors ever of all time.Cruise began his acting career in the 1980s, and made his breakthrough with the lead roles in the comedy film Risky Business (1983) and action film Top Gun (1986). His roles in the dramas The Color of Money (1986), Rain Man (88) and Born on the Fourth of July (89) brought his the respect of critics. For his portrayal of Ron Kovic in the latter the film, he received an Golden Globe Award and received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actor. As a prominent Hollywood actor in the 90s, he starred in a variety of commercially successful films, including the drama A Few Good Men (1992), the thriller The Firm (1993), the horror film Interview with the Vampire (1994), and the romance Jerry Maguire (1996). In the latter film, Cruise was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor and received his second Academy Award nomination. Cruise's role as an actor and motivational speaker in Magnolia (1999) resulted in him receiving another Golden Globe Award and a nomination to the Academy Award. He also was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Artist. Cruise is now a famous action star who frequently performs the risk of doing dangerous stunts. Cruise has appeared as Ethan Hunt in all six of the Mission: Impossible films from 1996 to 2018. From 1996 until 2018, he portrayed Ethan Hunt in six Mission Impossible films. He has three children, two of which were adopted in his marriage to Kidman and the other of which is a biological daughter who he shared with Katie Holmes. Cruise is a prominent proponent of Scientology. He credits it with aiding him in overcoming dyslexia. In the early 2000s Cruise sparked controversy due to his criticisms of psychiatry and antidepressant drugs, his attempts to promote Scientology in Europe and also a leaked video interview of Cruise advocating for Scientology.
