Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Enzio Stallone (/st@'loUn/; born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone, July 6 1946) is an American actor and film maker. After struggling for many years acting in his first role upon his arrival in New York City in 1969, as well as Hollywood in 1974 respectively and 1974, he received his first award for critical acclaim in his performance in the film Stanley Rosiello (The Lords of Flatbush) in which he was the lead. Stallone was able to find steady work as an extra or a side-character in movies with huge budgets until he reached his greatest commercial and critical success as an actor. His career began in the year 1976, playing Rocky Balboa's boxer in the first Rocky film (1976-1999) and for which he created screenplays. 1 Rocky is an underdog boxer, who wins two world heavyweight titles. He was also nominated for Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay (Academy Award) and the award for Best Actor. Rocky, Stallone's film, was included in the National Film Registry and its props were placed within the Smithsonian Museum. The Rocky Steps were named after Stallone's choice of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's front entrance in Rocky. Stallone was recognized with an induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Philadelphia now has a permanent statue of him as Rocky. The success of the action film First Blood, in which Stallone played John Rambo, a PTSD-afflicted soldier, changed everything. First Blood was originally an adaptation of David Morell's novel. Stallone altered the script of First Blood during production. He was to reprise his part in five Rambo films (1982-1999). Stallone was one of the most successful actors in Hollywood in the mid-1980s until the end of the 1990s. He appeared in many commercially successful action movies which were generally criticized. These included Cobra, Tango and Cash as well as Cliffhanger. The Specialist was an acclaimed film. Stallone's popularity declined in the 2000s, but the actor returned to prominence in 2006 with the release of the sixth installment of the Rocky series and later in 2008 with the fourth installment in the Rambo series. Stallone was the lead actor in the role as Barney Ross, a mercenary in The Expendables films series from 2010 until the year 2014. He also appeared in Escape Plan and was also in its sequels. In 2015, Stallone returned to the Rocky series with Creed and Creed II, which serve as spin-off films focusing on Adonis "Donnie" Creed played by Michael B. Jordan, the son of the tragic boxer Apollo Creed, to whom the long-retired Rocky is an instructor. Recasting the role again earned Stallone recognition, and his first Golden Globe award for the first Creed in addition to an additional Oscar nomination, after having been first nominated for the same role forty years prior.Stallone is the only actor in the history of American cinema to have starred in a number one film over six consecutive years. He is also a well-known icon of physical culture.
