Natalie Portman, born Natalie Hershlag; Hebrew: nTly HRSHlg on June 9, 1981) is an American-Israeli born actress. Since her teens, she has enjoyed a successful film career. She has appeared in many independent and blockbuster films, and received multiple accolades like two Golden Globe Awards. In high school, she appeared in The Diary of a Young Girl on Broadway in 1998. The film also praised her for her character in Padme Amidala (Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace) (1999). She attended Harvard University from 1999 to 2003 and graduated with a bachelor's in psychology. She reduced her number of acting roles, however she continued to perform in the Star Wars prequel trilogy (2002, 2005) and in The Public Theater's 2001 revival of Anton Chekhov's play The Seagull.In 2004 Portman was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and was awarded a Golden Globe Award for playing an unsettling stripper in the romantic drama Closer. Her career continued to grow with her starring roles in the films Evey Hammond in V for Vendetta (2005) and as Anne Boleyn in The Other Boleyn Girl (2008) as well as a ballerina who was troubled in the psychological horror film Black Swan (2010), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. After her appearance in No Strings Attached (2011), she portrayed Jacqueline Kennedy as Jackie (2016). This earned her another Academy Award nomination. Portman also played Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Thor: Love and Thunder (222). This made her one of the highest-paid actors worldwide. The actress was also nominated for an Academy Award. She is a vocal advocate for animal rights and environmental causes. Benjamin Millepied is her dancer husband and choreographer. They have two children together.
