Kelly's first acting appearance was in 2003, when she was an extra as an extra The Turbo Charged Prelude to 2 Fast 2 Furious. The short film was an introduction of six minutes to the action movie 2 Fast 2 Furious. The film was then followed by a special appearance on Cracking Up. Since then, she's been featured on various TV shows which include Entourage, Drake & Josh, American Dreams, and American Dreams. Kelly was given a three-episode role as a recurring character in The WB comedy series What I Like About You in 2005. In April of 2006, Kelly was commissioned as an episode regular on the NBC drama series Friday Night Lights. The show was inspired by the film about high school football with the same name. The show is based on the fictional story of a football team from a high school that hails from Dillon. Kelly was Lyla Garrity who was an high school cheerleader and student. Kelly was a member of the Pflugerville High School cheerleading team to prepare for her role. The show premiered on the 3rd of October in 2006. Kelly was praised by The New York Times for her performance, describing it as "heartbreaking". Kelly played her character in the third season of the show was dropped from the show.
