Marilyn Monroe

The redirection is "Norma Jeane". For other uses, see Norma Jean (disambiguation) and Marilyn Monroe (disambiguation).Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson; June 1, 1926 - August 4, 1962) was an American actress. She is best known for her comedic roles as "blonde bombshells", and was an icon of the sexual revolution of the 1950s. Her films made 200 million dollars, which would amount to around $2 billion in 2021. She was a popular actress for more than 10 years. [3] Monroe is still a significant celebrity even after her death. In 1999 in 1999, the American Film Institute ranked her sixth on their list of the most influential female screen legends of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Multiple film critics and media outlets have cited Monroe as being among the most talented actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Monroe spent the majority of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage; she married at age sixteen. She was employed in the factory during World War II when she came across an artist from the First Motion Picture Unit and began a successful pin-up modelling career that led to film roles that lasted only a few days with 20th Century Fox and Columbia Pictures. In the latter half of 1950, following some small roles in films, she signed an agreement with Fox. She became a popular actor over the next two decades, acting in numerous comedies including As Young as You Feel, Monkey Business, as and in the dramatic films Clash by Night, and Don't Be Afraid to Knock. The actress was the subject of controversy after it was discovered that she had posed for nude photographs prior to becoming a celebrity, but the story didn't hurt her career, but instead brought more attention to her films.
