Lewis Hamilton

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE HonorFREng, a British racing driver, is currently racing in Formula One for Mercedes. In Formula One, Hamilton has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championships (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the records for the most wins (103) and pole positions (103), and podium finishes (191) as well as other records. born and raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Hamilton joined the McLaren young driver programme in 1998. Hamilton was the first and sole black driver in Formula One from 2007 to 2012. Hamilton was runner-up by just one point over Kimi Raikkonen during his debut season. Hamilton won his first title the following season in dramatic manner. He completed a crucial overtake in the final race of the season and became the youngest Formula One World Champion. After six years at McLaren, Hamilton signed with Mercedes in 2013.Changes to the rules for 2014 that mandated the use of turbo-hybrid motors saw the start of an extremely successful time for Hamilton in which he has won six further drivers' championships. In 2014, he won consecutive titles and 2015, following a fierce rivalry with teammate Nico Rosberg. Following Rosberg's retirement Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel became Hamilton's closest rival in two championship battles during which Hamilton repeatedly overcame mid-season point deficits to take consecutive titles again in 2017 and 2018. In order to match Schumacher's record of seven drivers, his third and fourth consecutive titles were won in 2019 and 2020.
