Kate Garry Hudson, born on April 19, 1979, is an American actress. Her nominations include an award from the Golden Globe Award as well as a Critics' Choice Movie Award and a Satellite Award. She has also been nominated for the Academy Award, BAFTA Award and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Hudson's first film role was in the 1998 thriller Desert Blue. She then was in as a supporting role in 200 Cigarettes (1999), Dr. T & the Women (both 2000) as well as Gossip (2nd 2000). The role she played in the role of Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous (2000) earned her fame across the world. Hudson received an Oscar in this category, and was awarded the Golden Globe. In the decade of 2000, Hudson starred in a number of romantic comedies which included Alex & Emma, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (both 2002), You, Me and Dupree (2006), Fool's Gold, My Best Friend's Girl (2008), and Bride Wars (2009). Other credits in films include The Four Feathers (2002, Raising Helen (2004) and Nine (both 2009), The Killer Inside Me (2010) and Something Borrowed (2011). Hudson was also in Fool's Gold and My Best Friend's Girls (both 2008) and Rock the Kasbah (2015). Deepwater Horizon, Mother's Day, Marshall (both 2016) and Music (2021). She played the role of the recurring character Cassandra July in the hit TV show Glee (2012-13).
