Janet Leigh

 Jeanette Helen Morrison, born on July 6th, 1927. She passed away on October 3, 2004 and was professionally known as Janet Leigh. She was an American actress. Her career spans more than fifty years. Leigh was born in Stockton, California to working-class parents. When she was 18 she was discovered by actress Norma Shearer who helped her sign an acting contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Prior to her acting debut, Leigh was a regular on the radio. Her first film appearance was with The Romance of Rosy Ridge (1947). MGM offered her a variety of parts in films that covered a range of genres. They included the crime-drama Act of Violence (1948) as well as the dramatic Little Women (49), the comedy Angels in the Outfield (51) and the romantic Scaramouche (1952) as well as the western-themed drama The Naked Spur (53). In the 1950s, she portrayed the role of a dramatic character in films such as Safari (1956), Orson Welles' noir Touch of Evil (1958) and Scaramouche (1952). She co-starred alongside Robert Mitchum in Holiday Affair (1949) which was a romantic comedy. Her most notable success came in the role of Marion Crane, in Alfred Hitchcock's psychotic thriller Psycho (1960). Leigh was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance. Leigh continued to appear in films that included Harper (1966), Night of the Lepus (722) and Boardwalk (1979). In 1975, she made her Broadway debut in Murder Among Friends. Alongside her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, she was in two horror films: The Fog (1980) and Halloween H20 twenty years after that (1998).
