Elizabeth Berkley

 After leaving Saved by the Bell to pursue a film career, Berkley won the role of Nomi Malone as the lead character in the controversial Paul Verhoeven film Showgirls (1995The sexually explicit and naked-filled film was awarded a NC-17 rating in the United States (the first big-budget film to be awarded the rating) and was a huge box office hit during its original, theatrical run, and was panned by critics. Berkley's performance received negative reviews, with Todd McCarthy describing it in Variety as "harsh graceful, unglamorous and swiftly tiresome" as well as Janet Maslin of The New York Times writing that Berkley displayed "the open-mouthed, vacant-eyed look of an inflatable party doll." Berkley was reported to have made an "tempestuous" exit form Creative Artists Agency. She attended a week-long meeting with William Morris Agency, United Talent Agency and ICM. The latter signed her. The film was a supporting character in The First Wives Club in January 1996. It starred Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton. She then played an Madonna body-double named Tina in the film independent The Real Blonde. Berkley was played as the title character in the animated film Armitage III: Poly Matrix in 1999. The film also starred Kiefer Sutherland. She also landed parts in independent films like The Taxman, Tail Lights Fade and the highly popular Roger Dodger (winner of the first Tribeca Film Festival), and Moving Malcolm.She also played a small role as the call girl employed by Al Pacino's character in Oliver Stone's sports drama Any Given Sunday, as and a major part in Woody Allen's The Curse of the Jade Scorpion. In 1999, she appeared in the stage with Eddie Izzard and played Honey in the London stage version Lenny.
