Ariana Grande-Butera (/,a:ri'a:n@ 'gra:ndeI/ AR'ee-AH-n@ GRAHN-day; [note 1] born on June 26 in 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Her vocal range of four octaves has been praised by critics, and her personal life has been the focus of a lot of media attention. She has won numerous awards throughout her career, including two Grammy Awards, one Brit Award as well as one Bambi Award, two Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, nine MTV Video Music Awards, and 27 Guinness World Records.Grande started her musical career at age 15 in the year 2008's Broadway musical 13. She rose to fame for playing Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon show Victorious (2010-2013) and Sam & Cat (2013-2014). After watching YouTube videos of Grande covering songs, Republic Records signed Grande in the year 2011. Grande's 1950s-doowop-influenced R&B and pop debut album, [2] Yours Truly (2013) it reached the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's voice and her whistle on the album drew immediate comparisons to Mariah Carey.
