Sophie Xeon, born 17 September 1986, and passed away 30 January 2021 was a Scottish music producer, songwriter and DJ. Sophie Xeon (17 September 1986 to 30 January 2021) is also known as Sophie (stylized in all caps) was a music producer from Scotland and songwriter as well as DJ. Sophie is known for her brash and experimental style of pop music which led to the creation of the 2010s hyperpop microgenre. Sophie's studio album Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides came out in the year 2018. It was an award nomination for the Grammy Award as Best Dance/Electronic album. Sophie died on January 20, 2021, following a being thrown off a three-story Athens building. The Fader has praised Sophie as an "pioneering Scottish artist whose vibrant electronic music expanded contemporary pop music's scope,"while Pitchfork credited Sophie's influential work in "mold[ing electronic music into a bracingly innovative avant-garde pop"
