Richard Beckinsale

Beckinsale was the eldest of three children to Arthur John Beckinsale (Anglo-Burmese dad) and Maggie Barlow (English mother). In 1977, Beckinsale said that he could be close to the actor Charles Laughton. While at College House Junior School in Chilwell, Beckinsale appeared in his first of his school productions, playing Dopey in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. [4]: 17. At the age of 17 He was also a character in Tobias The Angel and was also Hsieh-Ping Kuei, Lady Precious's Stream' main character. This earned him praise from the Nottingham Evening Post. Beckinsale, who was fifteen years old at the time, aspired to become a professional actor. However, his age was not suitable to be enrolled in the drama school. He was employed for a full year in a variety of manual jobs, such as stints as an upholsterer's apprentice, pipe inspector and assistant in a grocery business. 26-29 Beckinsale was just 16 when he began his studies at Nottingham College in Clarendon. He was a drama teacher in the program and stayed for the next two years at the college until he could apply to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After failing his initial audition for RADA, Beckinsale was accepted after his second audition, becoming just one of 31 applicants who were successful from a total of more than 12,500. [4]: 38 Beckinsale was awarded a comedy award at RADA.
