Muggsy Bogues

Bogues was born in Baltimore and was raised in the Lafayette Court housing developments. His mother was 4.50m (1.50m) and his father was 5.05m (1.65m). The early years of his life were difficult for his family. He was the oldest of three siblings and brothers. He was just five years old when he was hit by a stray shot of buckshot and was admitted to hospital. Bogues witnessed a man killed with a baseball bat when he was an infant. The incident stuck for him until he reached 12 years old. His father was convicted for armed robbery, and Bogues was sentenced to 20 years in prison. His brother Chuckie was also a drug user at the same time. Bogues was an outstanding athlete and wrestler as when he was a kid. He was a young kid who would play basketball in the courts. The nickname he was given was "Muggsy" which was a reference to the diminutive character from The Bowery Boys. Bogues was a student at Southern High School in Baltimore and started playing basketball in the school. Bogues was interested in becoming dentist, and which is why he enrolled at Dunbar High School in Baltimore. He was later instructed by Bob Wade who is now the head coach of the University of Maryland. coach. Bogues played with the future NBA players Reggie Williams, David Wingate and Reggie Lewis (the former two were in the class that graduated). The Dunbar Poets ended the 1981-82 season with a record of 29-1 during Bogues's junior year and then finished with a record of 31-0 in Bogues's senior year. USA Today ranked them first in the nation.
