Temetrius Jamel"Ja" Morant born on 10 August 1999 is an American professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA). He is known as "G12" and was a college basketball player with the Murray State Racers, where the consensus first-team All-American as a sophomore in 2019.Morant was only lightly recruited by NCAA Division I programs and unranked by the recruiting agencies, despite having been named All-Region Most Valuable Player three times and earning All-State honors at Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina. He was a huge success at Murray State University as a freshman, securing first-team OVC conference honors. His sophomore season was a success. He won OVC Player of the Year and was a leader in the NCAA in assists. In addition, as an sophomore, Morant became the first player in NCAA history to score more than 20 points and 10+ assists per game for the entire season.Morant was picked by the Grizzlies with the second overall pick during the 2019 NBA draft, and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2020. Morant was selected to the 2022 NBA All Star Game as the team's captain and was also awarded the NBA Most Improved Player Award. He was also added for the All-NBA 2022 Team.
