Wingrove comes from a footballing family, including his dad Alan briefly participating in the youth set-ups of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal and his cousin, Greg Lincoln, being part of the first-team Arsenal team, though Lincoln did not actually play for the club.Wingrove was a player in a trial with Tottenham Hotspur aged 11, but was told that he was too small and insufficiently strong to make it at professional level. In pursuit of a professional football career, he began playing freestyle football in order to earn money. He was a player at Enfield Town youth level and then semi-professionally with Ware between 2004 until 2009. Lynch was the very first professional freestyle footballer signed by an Premier League club. He played at youth level for Enfield Townand then semi-professionally for Ware from the year 2004 to 2009. Lynch says he was told "on the field, you're the best at every club... but off the field, you're considered to be the worst". However, some have questioned this claim, given the presence of Robert Pires, Dennis Bergkamp, and Thierry Henry as part of the Arsenal squad. Former professional footballer as well as Arsenal academy graduate Fabrice Muamba, did not remember Lynch being part of the squad and showed that Lynch was not featured in the photos of the academy.
