Kate Elizabeth Winslet CBE,"wInzl@t," was born on October 5, 1975. She is an English actress. She is best known for her independent films, especially period dramas, aswell for her portrayals of strong and complex women. She has won numerous awards such as an Academy Award and a Grammy Award. Time magazine named Winslet one of the 100 most influential individuals worldwide between 2009 and 2021. She was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2012.Winslet trained in drama at the Redroofs Theatre School. Her first appearance on screen aged 15 was in the British television series Dark Season (1991). Her first film role came to light as a teenage killer in Heavenly Creatures (1994), and later won the BAFTA Award for playing Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility (1995). Her role as the lead character in Titanic (1997) which was an epic romantic comedy that was the highest-grossing movie at that time, helped her achieve worldwide fame. Winslet opted out of blockbuster roles in favor of period films such as Quills (2001) and Iris (2000). The science fiction romantic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) was a pivotal moment in her professional career. The actress also won awards for her roles in Little Children (2006) and Revolutionary Road (2008). In the latter, for her role as an ex- Nazi camp guard in the former film, she received the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best Actress. Winslet was honored with an Grammy Award for her narration of a story in the audiobook Listen to the Storyteller (1999). She performed the song "What If" for the soundtrack of the film Christmas Carol: The Movie (2001). Co-founder of the charity Golden Hat Foundation, which aims to create autism awareness, Winslet has written a book about the subject. Winslet who was divorced from Sam Mendes and Jim Threapleton was married to Edward Smith[a] in 2012. She has a child born from each marriage.
