Cornish began modeling at the age of 13 when she was a winner of the Dolly Magazine contest. She was also given the Australian Film Institute Young Actor's Award. In 2001, Abbie was the lead part in "Life Support" that was an often humorous, but dark and a look at Australian life as seen through the ever-present lifestyle show on television. Cornish was featured in the short film Everything Goes, which Hugo Weaving was awarded in 2004. Cornish was awarded the Australian Film Institute Award as the Best Actress in a Leading Role and was named the Best Actress award at both the FCCA and IF Awards. She also was awarded the award for Best Breakthrough Performance at the Miami International Film Festival 2005 for her performance in Somersault. Cornish was a co-star with Heath Ledger in Candy, was praised by critics. [5] She was also in A Good Year Elizabeth: The Golden Age, and Kimberly Peirce's Stop-Loss. Her role as the lead character Fanny Brawne, the Romantic poet John Keats's Romantic poet, Bright Star in Jane Campion's 2009 film was a massive success. Cornish was chosen to play Fanny Brawne in Limitless which is the film adaptation of the novel The Dark Fields[6] written by Neil Burger. Also starring Bradley Cooper & Robert De Niro, Cornish was seen in Limitless in April of 2010.
